Most of us spend our days in front of computers, on the phone, or in our cars, working, stressing, succeeding, and striving all while remaining seated and stationary.
This wouldn't be a problem if our ancestors were a sedentary species like pine trees, but unfortunately for us, our lineage comes from a dynamic group of animals who made their way through the world by employing a broad scope of movement patterns. Squatting, lunging, gripping, hanging, pressing, pulling, twisting, and sprinting, we are meant to be on the move and our biological machinery demands more than just a daily dose of gym time. To truly thrive, we need to reintroduce movement into our daily lives.
Today's show is part one of a two part series dedicated to the idea that movement is more than just exercise and features a conversation with world renowned movement expert Dr. Kelly Starrett.
Best known for his hit Mobility WOD YouTube channel and New York Times best-selling book "Becoming a Supple Leopard", Dr. Starrett has dedicated his life to fixing broken bodies.

Stephanie Dodier spent fifteen years climbing the corporate ladder and while she projected an image of success on the outside, on the inside, trouble was brewing.
One day, while Stephanie was giving a presentation, an alarming sensation came over her, her heart raced, she felt lightheaded, and she thought she was having a heart attack. Her co-workers rushed her to the hospital and after being thoroughly examined, the prognosis was that she had experienced a panic attack brought on by stress. Instead of talking to her about her diet and lifestyle however, the doctor simply wrote a prescription for anti-anxiety and antidepressant medications and sent her on her way.
Intuitively, Stephanie knew that this was the wrong approach and in that moment decided to take a different path. The journey that she began on that fateful day has not only resulted in health, it has also reinvigorated Stephanie's spirit, her sense of connection, and ignited her purpose.
On today's show, she tells her story and shares the lessons she learned along the way.

When we found out that we'd be talking to Brad Kearns, former pro triathlete, host of the Primal Endurance Podcast, and co-author of Mark Sisson's new book Primal Endurance, we thought it would be a straightforward conversation about athletic performance, the mechanics of the cardiorespiratory system, and why chronic cardio is a bad idea.
The conversation we actually had was much different, and much more interesting in my opinion, covering a much broader scope of subjects and diving deep into the areas of mindset, intuition, and awareness.
Brad has been working alongside Mark Sisson for many years, but he has his own unique and valuable voice within the Paleo/Primal space. His experience as a professional athlete, a parent, and educator have given him valuable insights into his own mind, and by extension, the human condition as a whole. We really enjoyed this interview and think you will too.

Every once in awhile you come across someone who just has "it", that difficult to quantify quality of energy, enthusiasm, confidence, and presence that makes other people pay attention and take notice.
While at Paleo f(x) this past year we met someone who has "it", teenage Paleo blogger Sadie Radinsky.
She wowed Paleo f(x) founder Michelle Norris, chatted up Robb Wolf, and definitely made a mark on us as well. You might remember her from our 2016 Paleo f(x) wrap up episode, but we wanted to bring her back to tell a little more about her story, her Paleo mission, and to share with you some of the magic that she brings to this world.
So without further ado, Sadie Radinsky of Goodies Against the Grain.

One of Tony's first assignments for Paleo Magazine was to cover the original Paleo f(x) conference and the first person he met in Austin was a fellow Paleo fan named Charissa Talbot.
At the time, Charissa had just taken a job working as a virtual assistant for Diane Sanfilippo, whose Balance Bites blog and 21 Day Sugar Detox program had just started to become a little too much for her to handle on her own.
They became fast friends and spent much of that weekend fanboying and fangirling over the talks, presentations, workshops, and experiences that defined the original Paleo f(x) event.
Fast forward several years later and Tony's still working for Paleo Magazine and Charissa too is still heavily involved in the Paleo community.
Her current role as COO for ThePaleoMom.com involves overseeing an entire team of coaches, writers, editors, and social media specialists. She's Dr. Sarah Ballantyne's right hand woman, working behind the scenes to ensure that all the book projects, blog posts, programs, and podcasts featured on ThePaleoMom.com arrive on time, in shape, and ready to rock.
We are thrilled to have the opportunity to interview our friend Charissa and to share her story with all of you.

As you all must know, the past few weeks have been tragic, so much so that the word tragic seems insufficient.
When we check the Facebook news feed we're confronted with such unbelievable violence. Violence against gay nightclub goers, violence against African Americans, violence against police, and we feel compelled to address this rift in our collective consciousness as ignoring it and pretending it doesn't exist or didn't happen seems disrespectful to the deceased, their families, and to society at large.
We realize that this is a podcast largely focused on health, exercise, entrepreneurship, and food, but none of these things exist in a vacuum.
We also realize that it can be tempting to hide ourselves from the world by focusing on the minutia of our lives, whether we drank enough bone broth, ate enough kale, or made ourselves sweat. These things are important, personal health is important, but we are all part of a tribe and right now our tribe is not well.
We don't pretend to have any solutions but do know that as humans we are capable of doing good just as much as we are capable of committing acts of evil and we're certain that there is more good in this world than not.
We think our own words are exhausted at this point, so we're going to play something that feels particularly relevant to the moment we are in today.
What you're about to hear is a speech Robert F. Kennedy gave on April 4, 1968 in Indianapolis Indiana. At the time, he was running for the Democratic presidential nomination and while one his way to what was supposed to be a typical campaign rally, he was given the news that Martin Luther King had been shot and killed.
This was before 24 hour cable news and before the internet, so many of the people assembled did not know what had happened to Dr. King. Kennedy's aides, local officials, and law enforcement were concerned about security and the potential for a riot, but he decided to speak anyway and gave the speech from a podium mounted on the back of a flatbed truck.
When news of Dr. King's death broke, there were riots in over 100 US cities including New York, Chicago, Boston, Detroit, and Baltimore, but Indianapolis was not one of them and it is thought that the speech given by Robert Kennedy was one reason why the city, unlike so many others, remained calm in the aftermath of Dr. King's assassination.
63 days after giving this speech Robert Kennedy was also shot and killed, but his words and the impact that they had on the people who heard them lived on.
Our hope in sharing this speech with you today is that Robert Kennedy's words will live in you as well and that in the face of so much tragedy, evil, and despair, you will choose love, hope, and understanding.

So you’ve read the “The Paleo Diet," "The Primal Blueprint," and “The Paleo Solution” and are ready to dive headfirst into the Paleo lifestyle. You hop in your car, head to the local supermarket, and start looking for Paleo-friendly foods.
If you’re like most people, somewhere between the sugar-infused tomato sauces, CAFO meat, and wheat gluten everything, you throw your hands up in frustration, realizing that while the Paleo concept is simple, shopping Paleo isn’t. Luckily however, you’re not alone, and if there is a positive side to frustration, it’s that it’s a great stimulus for invention.
Jen Reissman, co-founder of OneStopPaleoShop.com, remembers her Paleo-shopping frustration well. She and her co-founder Devon would visit upwards of seven different stores to get everything they needed, and it was after one particularly trying day of shopping that Jen and Devon had an idea. They decided that they would create a website that brought together all sorts of Paleo-friendly products under one roof, a one stop paleo shop if you will, which they also realized was a great name for their business, and so the website onestoppaleoshop.com was born.

The 2016 Summer Olympics will be held next month in Rio de Janeiro Brazil, and along with the gymnastics, track and field, soccer, boxing, and other sports, there's weightlifting.
But unlike the weightlifting most of us are familiar with, Olympic weightlifting doesn't involve targeting specific muscle groups. There is no biceps curl, bench press, or dip, no leg press, hamstring curl, or seated row.
In Olympic weightlifting there are two moves; the clean and jerk and the snatch, that's it, but despite their superficial simplicity, the clean and jerk and snatch require thousands of hours of practice and the patience of a zen monk to master.
On today's show, Stephanie Gaudreau, Paleo Magazine Radio regular and host of Harder to Kill, breaks down the details of Olympic lifting. Why it is her chosen sport, and why the pursuit of Olympic Lifting mastery is worth it's weight in gold medals even if you're not planning on going to the Olympics.
